The last few weeks have been a blur. I traveled to Seattle for a wedding. I packed up a moving van. I drove it (with my Dad) 2,100 miles. I unloaded the moving van into my 4-story walk up apartment. I unpacked lots of boxes. I reunited with my Kitchen Aid mixer and other cooking supplies after a long year's absence. After all of that, I started a new job last week.
Moving is a huge hassle. I'm slowly getting settled, though. I found the grocery store. I know how to take the T to work. I found the delicious smoothie/fresh juice/sandwich place on the corner. And it's a great time to be back with my kitchen supplies. Fall weather arrived in Boston just as I did. Pumpkin spice lattes are back at Starbucks. Fall beers are on tap. My oven is begging me to bake and I'm chopping up a storm with my knives.
It's hard to believe that a year ago, I was packing bug repellent and shorts and mosquito nets and getting ready to spend six months on a tropical island. The transition to life in Boston will be a different challenge than the one that greeted me a year ago. But I'm ready for it.
I need to figure out cooking and shopping and getting the right things for lunches and easy dinners when I'm tired and hungry after work. Today, I made some of these burritos for lunches over the next few weeks. I love things that can be frozen. I have some knitting projects and recipes in the works to share soon. The light in my new apartment is amazing, so I'm excited for some good pictures.
