I loved the yarn used in the pattern so I decided not to substitute. Malabrigo Rios is lovely in all ways. The color varies slightly from dark to light giving the blanket a beautiful texture. The color Aguas is a perfect description because it reminds me of a green colored sea.
I was really happy with the way the blanket turned out. The pattern is unique and fun to knit and afterwards I had an extra skein of the yarn leftover that I made into a lovely hat (I'll save that for another post).
The blanket looks best if you block it out. Blocking makes it drape really nicely helps make the cables even out.
PS. You may have noticed a new look and design to Painting Lilies. My website was hacked in February (apologies if you tried to access it during the first week of February and found some strange behavior or hacked sites). Getting hacked is a pain and I lost a few pages and some content. Fortunately, I was able to recover most of my history and posts. But everything was still acting a little strange. I decided to transfer the site to Squarespace. I'm really happy with the new features, site design and the ability to integrate an eCommerce store. Also, the security will be much improved. So take that hackers!
All of the original URLs will direct to the right posts. There are also a few new sections, so poke around and let me know what you think!
