It may come as a surprise that though I enjoy knitting baby items (blankets, hats, sweaters, etc.), I really dislike baby showers. Usually I don't attend the shower and just send my gift. The cheesy games, the "oohing" and "ahhing" over every present opened, the passing of gifts around a circle... it's just not my thing.
Every now and then I attend a baby shower and am reminded why I said "no" to the last 5 invitations. This weekend was one of those rare times I found myself at a baby shower. As far as baby showers go, this one wasn't terrible, but after a while I thought I might roll my eyes if I heard, "that's SO cute" one more time.
I bought a Denver Broncos onesie as a gift for these friends, but gave it to them on the opening day of the football season instead of waiting for the baby shower. For the shower, I decided to make something quick and easy.
I only took one photo, but I made two versions of this Super Simple Baby Hat from PurlBee in different colors / sizes. You don't have to increase or decrease, don't need double pointed needles, don't need any fancy techniques. You just need to know how to knit in the round, purl and knit.
I love how quick and easy this project is. Using bulky yarn, it's really easy to make a few of these in one night. I used KnitPicks Billow which is super soft Pima Cotton and comes in a variety of lovely colors. (I used my leftovers from this blanket.) It's easy to make bigger sizes by increasing the length before finishing it off. I made one newborn sized and one slightly bigger to last through the winter.
And as much as I hate to say it, these little hats really are "SO cute".
